Album Info:Here are five original photos that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains and property in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on 23 August 1961. Not pictured ~ but present ~ is my buddy Thomas Harry Lantz. This was our first railfanning trip together. All of these photos are actually color slides, which have manifested the dreaded "red shift." Rather than challenge a potential viewer's sensibilities with bizarre color schemes, I have converted all of them to black & white.

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4915, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric built in Juniata during June of 1942 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. It's pulling a Philadelphia- and New York-bound passenger train out of the Station. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.)

Description:  Harrisburg-1961. Here is an original photo that I took in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on 23 August 1961. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5761 and #5710. Both are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #5761 was constructed in November of 1952, while #5710 was built in September of the same year. They've just departed the Harrisburg Station with a Baltimore- and Washington-bound passenger train, and are about to cross the Susquehanna River via the Cumberland Valley Railroad Bridge. One of Harrisburg's hospitals is partially visible at the left. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.)
