Here is an original photo of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9630, an L-2S (2-8-2) "Light Mike" built by the American Locomotive Company as Grand Rapids & Indiana Railroad number "111" during March of 1919, renumbered PRR "9630" in 1921, and retired in March of 1948 after 29 years of faithful service. It's a United States Railroad Administration design. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded. Many thanks to Mr. Robert Hess for identifying this locomotive correctly. Gary Mittner Collection. |
